Guidelines
  • When calling a tile:
    1. Announce (say "Pon")
    2. Expose the meld tiles in your hand
    3. Take called tile and meld it
    4. Discard
  • When calling Riichi:
    1. Announce (say "Riichi")
    2. Discard your tile sideways
    3. If no one calls Ron on your discard, add Riichi stick
Chombo
  • After a Chombo, hand is restarted as if it never happened (Riichi sticks from hand are returned, Honba does not increase)
  • Noten Riichi is a Chombo, will only be punished if hand is a draw
  • Knocking over 3 or more tiles in an opponent's hand is a Chombo
  • Knocking over tiles in the wall is not punished in most cases
  • Empty win is a Chombo (saying "Ron" and not doing it)
  • Empty call is a dead hand (saying "Pon" and not doing it)
  • Empty Riichi is a dead hand (saying "Riichi" and not doing it)
  • "Dead hand" means you can no longer call or win with that hand
  • Generally, if a mistake means the hand can no longer continue fairly, it is a Chombo. Otherwise it is a dead hand.
