Guidelines
When calling a tile:
Announce (say "Pon")
Expose the meld tiles in your hand
Take called tile and meld it
Discard
When calling Riichi:
Announce (say "Riichi")
Discard your tile sideways
If no one calls Ron on your discard, add Riichi stick
Chombo
After a Chombo, hand is restarted as if it never happened (Riichi sticks from hand are returned, Honba does not increase)
Noten Riichi is a Chombo, will only be punished if hand is a draw
Knocking over 3 or more tiles in an opponent's hand is a Chombo
Knocking over tiles in the wall is not punished in most cases
Empty win is a Chombo (saying "Ron" and not doing it)
Empty call is a dead hand (saying "Pon" and not doing it)
Empty Riichi is a dead hand (saying "Riichi" and not doing it)
"Dead hand" means you can no longer call or win with that hand
Generally, if a mistake means the hand can no longer continue fairly, it is a Chombo. Otherwise it is a dead hand.
